Where are women’s rights and where are human rights?

HOSNEY ABDELATY, Human Rights.

Today we ask ourselves: where are those who have always spoken out about women’s rights and human rights? Where are their voices in the face of what is happening to women and children in Palestine, especially in Gaza, where the bombings make no distinction between children, women, or the elderly, nor between mosques and churches?

The innocent civilians being killed today have no connection to this conflict, yet they pay the price with their lives, homes, and dreams.

We also question the political discourse that has sown fear and hatred among European peoples and Muslims, portraying the latter as opposed to freedom and women’s rights, while many of those who have sought refuge in these countries were originally fleeing war, destruction, and violence.

This discourse has contributed to dividing people and weakening the spirit of coexistence and peace among human beings, instead of spreading tolerance and mutual respect, despite differences in religion, culture, and ethnicity.

Ultimately, we are all human beings, and human beings should love one another. No one has the right to judge people for their faith or beliefs; that’s a matter between the person and their God.

Today we must stand united, show solidarity, and reach out to one another for the good of humanity and peace.
