BRATISLAVA (May 28, 2026) – A prestigious professional conference took place on Tuesday, May 26, at the Carlton Hotel in Bratislava. The event was organized by the ViennaClub – PANAP, led by its president, Dr. A. Grigorian, under the auspices of Member of the European Parliament, Milan Uhrík. The conference successfully brought together leading domestic and foreign experts to analyze the strategic challenges, geopolitics, and international relations facing the European continent. The main theme was the pursuit of energy sovereignty for New Europe, ensuring energy security, independence, and exploring strategic alternatives for European states within the new geopolitical context.

Who Attended: The conference featured prominent figures from the political, diplomatic, and energy sectors of several European countries:

  • Dr. A. Grigorian– President of PANAP and the main moderator of the conference
  • Milan Uhrík– Member of the European Parliament(Slovakia) and initiator of the conference
  • Steffen Kotré – German politician and Member of the Federal Parliament (Bundestag) for the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party
  • Tibor Mikuš – Chairman of the Supervisory Board of SPP, Slovakia’s largest gas supplier (Slovakia)

  • …and other leading experts.

Main Results and Conclusions of the Conference:
During the discussions, the experts agreed on the following key conclusions for the development of the region:

  • Energy Security: Diversification of energy sources and massive support for local renewable systems, together with nuclear energy, form the fundamental pillar for the stability of the Central European region.
  • Strategic Cooperation: Interconnecting critical infrastrutture and cross-border coordination in protecting transmission grids are essential to eliminate risk sassociated with supply outages.
  • Geopolitical Impact: A unified approach by countries in promoting energy interests will strengthen the region’s negotiating position vis-à-vis global players and European institutions.
  • Risks of Wind Energy: The planned massive construction of wind turbines in Slovakia represents an economic and technological hazard that we must strictly protect ourselves against. Their operation is unprofitable without state subsidies and directly burdens citizens’ wallets. Furthermore, the accompanying noise and infrasound raise serious health concerns for people in the affected areas. Extreme generation instability threatens the stability of the Slovak transmission grid, while these non-recyclable devices represent a massive ecological burden and irreversible devastation of the Slovak nature and landscape character.

Towards the end of the conference, the final declaration”Energy Sovereignty of New Europe” was read out:
Criticism of the European Commission

  • Security Threat: European Commission (EC) regulations weaken the energy and economic sovereignty of nations.
  • Negative Impacts: Violations of law, restrictions on business, and rising energy prices.
  • Systemic Flaws: Lack of transparency, missing impact assessments, and ignoring the interests of member states.

Final Declaration (Requested Measures)
At the end of the conference, a final declaration was presented, demanding:

  • Control over the EC: Introduction of judicial and parliamentary oversight over EC decisions.
  • Stronger Member States: Strengthening the role of national parliaments in energy policy.
  • Rationality: Adherence to the principles of the rule of law and economic reason.
  • New Group: Establishment of an expert working groupnamed “For Energy Sovereignty!” to analyze risks and legislation.

Quote from the Organizer:
“This conference confirmed that Bratislava is capable of generating powerful ideas for the future of the whole of Europe. The discussions showed that energy sovereignty is no longer just an economic issue, but a fundamental pillar of our security,” stated Dr. A. Grigorian.
